In recent years, metamaterials have been widely used in sensor design. A strain sensor scheme based on segmented media is proposed to improve the universality and stability of the sensor. Due to the difference of Poisson's ratio between the object to be measured and the sensor base, the sensor will produce split gap when it is strained. Through the structural design, the sensitivity of the strain sensor can be greatly improved when the electromagnetic energy is concentrated in the split gap. In combination with localized spoof plasmons (LSPs) excited on textured closed surfaces, the scheme is proved to have stable Q value and high sensitivity by simulation. Around 15 GHz, the sensitivity of the miniaturized low-profile sensor is 7.896kHz/με.
