In this paper, a tri-band switchable metamaterial absorber (MMA) based on frequency selective surfaces (FSS) is proposed. The absorber consists of three layers of FSS and one layer of magnetic material. The PIN diodes are loaded on the switchable FSS, and the working frequencies of the absorber can be changed by switching the ON and OFF state of the PIN diodes. The simulation results show that the absorber can provide continuous switchable reflectivity of less than −10dB at 2.0-12.4GHz by controlling the state of the active FSS, and each frequency band can achieve independent absorptions.
