This article proposes two designs of phase-modulated metasurfaces based on VO2 patches, which achieve the function of modulating the reflection phase by controlling the phase change of VO2. One design is a single polarization phase-modulated metasurface, achieving a phase difference of 180° ± 37° in the wide frequency range of 6.84 - 20.94GHz, with a relative bandwidth of 100%. Another design is a polarization-insensitive phase-modulated metasurface, which can achieve polarization-insensitive characteristics by using only one VO2 patch in a single unit cell, and this is not possible for traditional two-port switching components. In addition, compared with other switching components, VO2 patches not only have small parasitic parameters and high operating frequency, but also have the advantage of low cost. It holds research significance within the realm of microwave phase-modulated metasurfaces.
