A graphene-based patch antenna for terahertz (THz) applications is proposed in this article. In order to optimize its performance, a metasurface is incorporated and affixed to the radiating patch by a distance of 2 μm. The graphene-based metasurface patch antenna with an overall size of 40× 40 × 8.1627 μm3 exhibits a broad frequency bandwidth, ranging from 5.6 to 6.4 THz. The reflection coefficient is consistently below −10 dB across the entire frequency range, with a notable decrease of −22.28 dB at 6.25 THz. The proposed antenna shows excellent potential in THz communication, sensing, and imaging due to its wide bandwidth of 0.8 THz (13.3%).
