The paper mainly studies the problems of the transmission system in terms of frequency overvoltage and reactive power compensation in the process of connecting the new photovoltaic energy generation system to the power system through the transmission grid, and proposes corresponding solutions to these problems. Firstly, the electromagnetic transient model of the cable transmission system of an offshore photovoltaic farm is analysed, and the causes and hazards of the IFOV are analysed by using PSCAD/EMTDC to simulate the IFOV in an offshore photovoltaic farm. The results show that the reactive power compensation scheme based on SVG can effectively solve the problems of the PV system in terms of the IFOV and reactive power compensation.
