Due to advantages such as energy conservation, low cost, and good speed regulation performance, variable frequency drive motors are widely used in various aspects of production and daily life. Due to the interference of internal switching devices, variable frequency drive can bring about high-order harmonic voltage and current, leading to a sharp increase in the occurrence rate of motor failures. Therefore, detecting motor faults in the early stages can effectively alleviate faults and reduce economic losses. This article proposes a parameter optimized VMD decomposition based early rotor bar breakage fault diagnosis method for variable frequency motors. Firstly, use the Sparrow Improvement Algorithm to optimize the VMD parameters and enhance its adaptive decomposition ability. Secondly, the decomposed fundamental component of the current is square transformed to convert the fault characteristic frequency, avoiding the influence of fundamental frequency leakage. Finally, it has been demonstrated through experiments that this method can effectively identify the broken bar fault components of variable frequency drive motors under different load conditions.
