While technological advances in hardware security and cyber-physical systems are important, how such technologies and systems are adopted and integrated are subject to a viable business case, efficient supply chain, and skills and communication. We share the results from an in-depth study of two dozen technology leaders to understand the drivers and barriers of secure hardware. Another aspect we address is cyber risk perception and governance of cyber-physical systems, based on a proposed scenario-based method engaging executive leadership of a large organisation in a cyber risk exercise. Across the two areas of research, we hope to share insights into the economics and governance of cybersecurity.
