Analysis shows rainwater harvesting combined with solar cells improves clean water access in coastal areas, highlighting efficiency.
The need for clean water in coastal communities is often an obstacle, considering the high salt content, so that filtering technology is needed which is not cheap. On the other hand, the roofs of coastal communities have not been utilized as a periodic rainwater harvesting system during the rainy season, which can produce clean water and drinking water. The purpose of this study is to analyze and design a solar-powered rainwater harvesting system that is efficient and suitable for conditions in coastal areas. This research method uses secondary data survey method, quantitative analysis and VDI 2221. The VDI 2221 ( Verein Deutcher Ingenieure ) method is a method with a systematic approach in solving problems and optimizing the use of materials and technology. The results of the study showed that the material used was a 1000 liters SNI tank which is one of the instruments to ensure product quality has met all requirements (standards) for household scale. Design A was selected due to its distinct advantages: a robust and corrosion-resistant frame, a lightweight yet durable fiber tank, a straightforward and user-friendly setup, and the use of strong, cost-effective PVC piping. The SNI solar cell energy source with a power of 400 WP, will produce optimal energy for the water filtration and heating process, so that the water produced is clear, high quality and can be used for clean and drinkable water.
