Implementation of analog and digital control systems enhances mechatronics training with a magnetic levitation device.
This paper presents the design and implementation of both analog and digital control systems for a classic magnetic levitation device. The discussion incorporates all aspects of the design approach: description of physical system; mathematical modeling and simulation of dynamic system; system identification; analog control system design and implementation; digital control system design and implementation via both emulation and direct digital design. This project was developed as a comprehensive teaching aid for training the mechatronics engineer.
