Dynamic model predicts operational deviations during hydraulic fracturing, suggesting improvements for gas and oil extraction.
During hydraulic fracturing operations to enhance gas and/or oil extraction, a mixture of material is pumped into the well under high pressure to fracture the geological structure. The detection of deviations from nominal operating conditions during this process is vital. A simplified dynamic model of the hydraulic fracturing process is given. A fault-observer based on the simplified model is used to predict unexpected changes in the process, including the screenout phenomenon. Field data are used to validate the algorithm.
