This system improves layout design and material flow in facilities, indicating virtual reality's role in decision-making.
It is possible to design a layout and material flow decision support system by manipulating detailed design elements in facilities using virtual reality technology. In order to do this, one needs a quick, flexible and detailed representation of a facility. In this paper we discuss two facets of this representation, namely object extraction and object envelopes. We also discuss some object manipulation techniques.
