P‐11.17: Research of extinction ratio enhancement of linear polarized micro‐LED

This study proposes a linear polarized micro light‐emitting diode (LP micro‐LED) with SiO 2 transition layer and metal sidewall reflective layer to enhance the extinction ratio (ER) of for 3D display. Simulation is used for numerical calculations. By introducing SiO 2 transition layer, it can enhance ER from 13dB to 23dB and improve the luminous intensity distribution of LP micro‐LED. For metal sidewall reflective layer, it can effectively reduce the leakage light effectively, further enhancing the ER and let the value of ER unaffected by chip size. The results unveil promising strategies for enhancing the ER of LP micro‐LED, contributing to improvements in polarization multiplexed micro‐LED 3D display.
