This study evaluated public awareness of sarcopenia in Korea, a country nearing a super-aged society. Given the rising life expectancy and aging population, understanding sarcopenia among the public is crucial for effective health management. To tackle sarcopenia, educating the public systematically is vital. Before implementing this, the study aimed to measure sarcopenia awareness, particularly among dietary supplement users, assessing their knowledge and understanding of the condition. The study found that although many participants were aware of sarcopenia, their detailed knowledge was limited. Higher self-reported awareness was linked to better understanding. Women and physically active individuals showed a stronger grasp of the condition, and those with more knowledge were likelier to consume protein. This research is pivotal as the first to examine sarcopenia awareness in Korea's general population, providing a foundation for future research and public health strategies to address the condition.
