This article is, about the work of the great scientist Mahmud Kashgar "Divanu lugat at-Turk" and his contribution to Turkology. The phenomenon of enantioses (contradiction within one word), which has been researched in the field of general linguistics since the 19th- century, is also discussed. In the work of Mahmud Kashgar, this phenomenon was already considered 11 centuries ago, which indicates that the phenomenon was not a discovery of other scientists who dealt with the issue. This also indicates that he was a versatile scientist of his time, and his works are considered a valuable heritage for all Turkic languages. In addition, the conservation, similarities, and differences in the enantiosemic phenomenon noted in Kashgar Mahmud’s dictionary in modern Kyrgyz and Turkish languages were comparatively studied. It is said that the contradiction within one word (enantiosemy) has been mentioned in the thoughts of philosophers since ancient times.
