This study explores adolescent students’ perceptions of parental supervision, focusing on the impact of both the adolescents’ and parents’ gender. Involving 869 adolescents, the research used the newly developed “Adolescent Perception Scale of Parental Supervision” for data collection and latent profile analysis to identify distinct supervision profiles and explore their relationship with students’ gender. Three profiles for paternal supervision and four for maternal supervision were identified, showing varied perceptions of supervision intensity and style. The results highlight the influence of adolescents’ gender on the probability of pertaining to these profiles. The study underscores the importance of gender-specific approaches in parental supervision to support adolescent development and points to potential areas for further research and application in educational and family contexts.
