Abstract

Hydrogels are widely used in the field of biomedicine due to their high water content and strong drug loading capacity. Different types and quantities of amino acids are combined to form a wide variety of peptides. At the same time, the self-assembled peptide hydrogel is formed from the peptide into nanofibers, and the nanofibers are further wound to form a three-dimensional structure of the hydrogel. This special structure and the composition of the peptide give the hydrogel special characteristics and properties. Polypeptide-based self-assembled hydrogels have a variety of applications in the biomedical field. Therefore, it is of far-reaching significance to deeply understand polypeptide-based self-assembled hydrogels and explore their applications. This paper introduces the structure, preparation, properties, and biological applications of self-assembling peptide hydrogels. At the same time, the future development of peptide self-assembled gels is prospected.
