GPT Chat and Chatbots as a Means to Develop Foreign Communicative Skills Among Engineering Students

The article gives reasons for the importance of the implementation of chatbots and GPT chats, based on the artificial intelligence use allowing sentences translation and paraphrasing as well as accurate reaction to an interlocutor`s questions in the process of teaching the discipline “Foreign Language” to students. The purpose of the work is to define the possibilities of the use of chatbots and GPT chats in the process of foreign communicative skills development among students of an engineering University. The groups of the skills under consideration are conveyed and the methodical apparatus enabling the skills development on the basis of the exercises implying the use of chatbots and GPT chats in the students` classroom work and unsupervised work is described. Criterial apparatus to define the level of foreign communicative skills development among students is conveyed. The work outlines the procedure of methodical experiment with engineering students as well as its results giving the proof of chatbots and GPT chats use for the purpose of future engineers` foreign communicative skills development
