A small cemetery church built in the end of the XIX century over the grave of a hereditary honorary merchant from St. Petersburg was supposed to become a place of memory for many decades about the late person and be the House of God, in which on certain days Divine Services would be performed for the repose of the soul of the late Job Kryukov and all his late relatives. However, the terrible events of the XX century not only changed the course of the history of our Fatherland and the position of the Russian Orthodox Church, but were reflected in the fate of the church, that became a thousandth parish for Orthodox people, especially during the siege. Based on the archival data, the author provides unique information from the history of the Church of St. Job the Long-Suffering, clearly shows the spiritual significance of his service in the times of trouble and turmoil, thus forming an idea of the indisputable value of the temple in the life of the St. Petersburg diocese, the 280th anniversary of which is celebrated this year.
