are several editions of that speech. 4I also expressed this view extensively at the Croatian Diplomatic Club in order to be a summa of my European-Mediterranean orientation. 5 In this context, I believe that it would be possible to continue my briefly stated scientific and diplomatic reflections, building on them to a kind of uprightness with Africa.Namely, Africa is, to a good extent, from the point of view of world politics, a neglected continent, which, however, is on the axis that I elaborated North-South.Therefore, all that I emphasized for the Europe-Mediterranean relationship also applies to Africa.Moreover, the Northern part of Africa The North-South opposition is very much present in three major Western European countries, Italy, France, and Spain, which materializes as a relationship between the European continent and the Mediterranean.The parallel axes, together with the aforementioned Western European verticals, can also be established in Southeast Europe.Thus, a West-West relationship will also be realized since Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are always, both according to historical geography and sociology of religion in Western Mediterranean Europe.In this regard, Slovenia can also have its own central place with its specific position.I have been intensively thinking and writing about the topic Croatia, Europe, and the Mediterranean since 2001, 1 that is, for 2 decades, as an archaeologist, epigraphist, researcher in onomastics and historian, in a series of articles, lectures and speeches. 2As ambassador, I sublimated the subject in my 2004 letters of credence speech. 3A kind of crowning achievement of my scientific and diplomatic efforts on this topic may be regarded the speech that, as a French academician and Croatian ambassador-I gave under the dome of the French Academy at the Institut de France in Paris, on 23 rd October 2007.In this unique speech, when for the first time in history, four foreign members of the Academy were invited to speak on this most solemn academy occasion, I paid special attention to the topic: The heart-spirit/ reason relationship, through the relationship between the individual-general and the lived-studied, and this one is transferred to the Europe-Mediterranean relationship.
