Impedance Source inverters offer the capability to both lower and raise voltage levels. Despite their inherent appeal, they face challenges in achieving higher voltage gains using high shoot through ratio. This configuration results in elevated voltage stress across conducting devices. During startup, high starting inrush currents due to resonance leads to increase in distortions. To overcome these challenges, magnetically coupled trans impedance source inverter is proposed in this paper where the inductors in conventional Z-source inverters are replaced by magnetically coupled inductors. This approach aims to enhance voltage gain using turns ratio of coupled inductors at low shoot through ratio thereby reducing the stress on conducting devices and minimizing inrush currents. The performance of conventional and magnetic coupled impedance source inverter is compared for advance PWM techniques using Matlab/Simulink. A comprehensive examination of this strategy is presented by developing a prototype model, demonstrating the efficiency using various PWM techniques.
