Medial Ankle Impingement Syndrome due to Talar Osteochondroma and Gout Attack: A Case Report

Osteochondromas are benign bone tumors that commonly occur in the metaphyseal region of long bones, especially in the lower extremities. 1)Typically, they are solitary, asymptomatic, and detected incidentally on radiographs.However, when they arise in less common locations, such as the talus, they can lead to significant clinical symptoms and challenges for diagnosis and treatment.Osteochondromas in the talus are notably rare, comprising only a small fraction of all os-teochondromas. 2) To the best of our knowledge, no cases have been previously reported of its occurrence in the medial tubercle of the talus.Unusual presentation in this area of the ankle can result in impingement symptoms, including pain and limited range of motion in the ankle.We experienced a rare case of osteochondroma causing medial ankle impingement syndrome, which, in addition to this lesion, was accompanied by a gout attack in the medial aspect of the ankle joint.Here, we report that the case was successfully treated surgically.
