A photostable NIR-emissive labeling agent is presented by Masayasu Taki, Yasushi Okada, Florence Tama, Shigehiro Yamaguchi et al. in their Research Article (e202400711). Stereoisomers of the present compounds, based on phosphorus-bridged rhodamine, exhibit different staining abilities in live cells. The trans-isomer is able to permeate organelle membranes and label target proteins, whereas the cis-isomer accumulates nonspecially on lipid bilayers.
