The verification of atmospheric model simulation results with the ambient observation is one of the essential tasks in understanding and researching climate change, weather forecasting, and the environmental impact of atmospheric pollutants. Data visualization plays a crucial role in comprehending model outputs and identifying potential issues. However, existing visualization tools are usually not sufficiently practicable for handling large-scale data in batch processing, and the resulting images do not meet the quality requirements of scientific graphics. This paper introduces PostAtmos, a plotting toolkit designed for verifying atmospheric models based on high-performance computing. It enhances the efficiency of batch processing for large-scale datasets and offers support for flexible personalized configurations, such as background information and figure’s element details. Three typical plots of spatial distribution, time series and scatter plots are included in our toolkit. By harnessing the parallel computational capabilities of high-performance computing platforms, the cost time of plotting can be reduced from 263 to 5 minutes, accelerating ~50 times compared to traditional serial techniques. The toolkit serves as a robust and versatile tool, providing researchers with a potent instrument for visualizing outputs from atmospheric models. In doing so, it contributes to the ongoing refinement of model precision and reliability.
