The confluence of rivers/channels is an essential node of the fluvial system. Flow structures near the confluence of channels are complex and need to be studied. The discharge ratio in the channels and confluence angle are important parameters affecting the flow structures near the confluence. The main objective of this study is to investigate the flow structures for different discharge ratios in the channels. Detached Eddy Simulation (DES) was utilized to study the flow structures near the confluence of the channels. Vortical structures were observed shifting downstream of the confluence point with a decrease in the discharge ratio (discharge in primary channel/ total discharge).
