A Study on the Challenges and Success Factors in Media Conversion from Webtoons: Focusing on Along with the Gods

This study aimed to investigate challenging factors and identify successful strategies when converting webtoons into other media, especially into audiovisual works, focusing on the adaptation case of the successful Along with the Gods franchise. The most important issue was analyzed as an understanding of the relevant media's characteristics. Failure to convey key characteristics of the source work to consumers may result in negative perceptions of the adapted work. The second important element is the creation of dramatic narrative composition faithful to the worldview of the source work. It is important to note that the changes in characters or events should be made only at the level that does not bring collapse to the original worldview in cases where source works exist.
