People with type 2 diabetes mellitus are at increased risk of developing hepatic steatosis. We determined the prevalence of hepatic steatosis in middle-aged patients with and without diabetic retinopathy (DR) in an Indian population. We feel this information is critical, with trends of increasing chronic liver disease-related mortality at younger ages.
