Abstract Rapid advancements in the field of forecasting demand in-depth study spanning wind-derived products and other several climate fields. The wind index is one of the most valuable parameters and shows significant changeable and intermittent over a range of timescales since it is weather-dependent. Therefore, accurate wind index observation is acknowledged as a vital contribution to trustworthy large-scale Thunderstorm forecasts. This remote-sensing information is associated with errors and needs to be validated. In the current investigation, in situ, ground-based radiosonde data have been used to evaluate Infrared (IR) sounder data onboard the Indian navigation satellite (INSAT-3DR) satellite. It is discovered that the outcomes rather closely match the satellite data's unfavorable skew. There is a demand for this study that needs to be done on larger domains and data sets. All of India's different stations are considered and 2022, 2021, and 2020 data are analysed. Furthermore, this paper emphasizes the Wind Index accuracy for helicopter operation. However, wind index information is derived by satellite but always missing by Radiosonde. The proposed method is applied to the estimating Radiosonde wind index. This study mainly focuses on calculating wind index from different radiosonde parameters and then validating INSAT 3DR with Radiosonde WI.
