Pertussis is a highly infectious acute respiratory disease. The infants are vulnerable to it.In recent years, the incidence of adolescents and adults has increased significantly, which is an urgent clinical problem to be solved in the public field of the world. Based on the new research progress on the hot spot and focus of pertussis, this paper discusses the different understandings of pertussis treatment from two aspects of traditional Chinese medicine and western medicine. Traditional Chinese medicine for pertussis treatment to relieve lung and clear heat, phlegm and reverse as the basic treatment, according to different stages of lung, diarrhea and lung focus; western medicine mostly use macrolide antibiotics and other symptomatic treatment. In general, the clinical efficacy of TCM treatment of pertussis still needs large-sample and high-quality clinical randomized controlled studies, and Western medicine also needs to determine the timing and adverse reactions of other non-drug treatments, so as to standardize its treatment.
