The idea of a multilayer inverter originates from the extension of inverters to over two layers in order to lessen distortion from the basic sinusoidal waveform. The drawback of using multiple level inverter is inclusion of extra switches that makes the system bulkier and costly and the reliability of the system reduces due to increment in count of components. In this art, a seven level inverter is presented with reduced number of switches as compared to symmetrical H-bridged seven level inverter. The idea is built on MATLAB platform and results are analysed to verify its utility.
