The paper explores the size reduction in a narrowband PCB antenna intended for GPS applications through a mini-slot insertion technique. The PCB antenna's measurements are reduced to 30mm×50mm×1.6mm while resonating at a GPS frequency of 1.55GHz. The shown GPS PCB antenna covers the bandwidth of 1.52 GHz to 1.59 GHz, which contemplates the GPS frequency of 1.575 GHz. The shown PCB antenna demonstrates the highest gain of 0.18 abs at the peak frequency of 1.59GHz. It obtains a return loss of -21.30 dB at the mentioned frequency. The shown GPS PCB antenna has an overall gain of 0.11 abs at the resonating frequency of 1.55 GHz. The shown PCB antenna obtains a radiation efficiency of 13.16%. The paper introduces a method to reduce measurements through the slot insertion technique. Reducing the measurements of the PCB antenna at the cost of gain and efficiency emitted by the PCB antenna makes up for the resonance shift.
