Duplex ultrasound is a frequently used diagnostic method, but it has some limitations for microvascularization and neovascularization evaluation. The aim of this review was to evaluate the role of the new multiparametric US method-contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS)-in atherosclerotic plaque instability verification.
