In the rapidly evolving landscape of modern software development, containerization has emerged as a pivotal technology, offering scalability, portability, and efficiency in deploying applications across diverse computing environments. As organizations increasingly adopt containerized architectures, the performance of database access methods becomes a critical consideration for ensuring optimal application functionality and responsiveness. This research aims to comprehensively analyze various database access methods within containerized applications, focusing on Direct Access, Object-Relational Mapping (ORM), Representational State Transfer (REST) API, and GraphQL method. By conducting a systematic performance analysis, we aim to provide valuable insights into the trade-offs associated with each method, aiding developers, architects, and decision-makers in making informed choices that align with the specific requirements of their containerized applications. Our study found that the Direct Access method is faster than other methods (15x faster than GraphQL, 5.5x faster than ORM, and 2.14x faster than RestAPI) and best for precise control and high performance in simple queries.
