Mini-tablets are still a rather new dosage form withgrowing interest in particular for paediatric patients due to good swallowability.<o:p></o:p> In this study, several MCC and silicified MCC (Avicel®PH, Avicel® SMCC) grades were compared as binders in a mini-tablet formulationwith acetaminophen as model API. The impact of particle sizes of the MCCs ontabletability and the Carr Index as a hint for powder flow was investigated. Thebest results were achieved with Avicel® PH-102 and Avicel®SMCC 90 which demonstrated a good balance between powder flow andtabletability.<o:p></o:p>
