Ulcers that do not heal for more than 3 months are defined as chronic ulcers. Due to their increasing morbidity and mortality rates, difficulty of treatment, psychological and financial burdens, chronic ulcers are considered as a significant health problem encountered worldwide. Dressings, compression bandages, debridement, skin grafts, and other conventional treatment modalities lack growth factors needed to modulate healing process, thus less healing along with constantly repeated treatments make the whole healing process expensive. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is an easy, reasonably-priced modality containing growth factors needed to increase the speed of tissue healing.
