Abstract In a factory, the pipelines related to reciprocating compressors have been severe vibrating for over 10 years, and various methods of vibration reduction have been implemented, such as reinforcing support structures, adding non-obstructive particle damping (NOPD)1, but none of them have been effective. In this paper, multiple hole orifice plates and infinite length nozzle (ILN) were applied, combining high-frequency pulsation damping (multi-hole orifice plates) and low-frequency acoustic reflection elimination (ILN). Measured data indicated that the vibrations at the 1st stage and 2nd stage inlets exhibit a higher prevalence of high-frequency components, while the primary vibration frequency observed at the 1st stage and 2nd stage outlets is 25 Hz. In this case many multiple hole orifice plates have been used in each stage of inlet and outlet pipelines. And the infinite length nozzle has been usd in the 1st and 2nd stage outlet buffer tanks. The vibration has been reduced effectively after installation and solved the safety hazard of the factory.
