The comic strip as an innovative learning medium

This article analyse the didactical potential of comic strips as an innovative tool for learning through a multidisciplinary lens. A comic strip is a series of adjacent images drawn traditionally or with multimedia elements to produce a narrative or a chronological sequence of facts that describes a captivating history. In educational sciences, the comic strip as technique of teaching has been applied in school textbooks since the beginning of the last century. The purpose of this article is to argue the importance of comics and comic books as an innovative learning environment. For this purpose, philosophical, pedagogical, psychological, cybernetic and managerial aspects are analyzed. The results obtained point to the philosophy of critical constructivism, the pedagogy of critical thinking, the psychology of metacognition, the pedagogical cybernetics of argumented reality and knowledge management.
