Analysis demonstrates the affect of signal realization duration on cumulant information features for digital modulation identification, suggesting improved methodologies.
The article evaluates the informativeness of cumulant-based information features (CIF) in solving the problem of digital signal modulation type identification depending on the number of signal symbols in the analyzed signal realization. It provides a description of digital signal modulation types, their application areas, and selects the most relevant ones for current analysis. The approach to assessing CIF informativeness is examined using statistical parameters: range, standard deviation (SD), and variance of relative mean CIF values. The behavior of CIF values is analyzed depending on the number of signal symbols in the processed realization, and the most informative features for identifying the type of digital radio signal modulation are selected. An artificial neural network (ANN) was developed and trained to identify signal modulation types based on the selected informative CIF. The obtained results were analyzed and compared with those of other authors.
