Analysis reveals that carbon capture technologies face economic challenges in Russia, highlighting the need for government support.
The article is devoted to analyzing the opportunities and prospects for the development of cluster projects for carbon capture and storage (CCS) in Russia within the context of combating climate change. The international experience of implementing CCS technologies and their application in Russian conditions, where the economy is traditionally oriented towards the use of hydrocarbon resources, has been examined. Particular attention is given to forming cluster structures that allow for optimizing costs and enhancing the economic efficiency of such projects. The work presents the results of an analysis of available data, including the dynamics of CO2 capture costs, promising regions for cluster deployment, and examples of successful international practices. The assessment of economic feasibility shows that without government support and special market mechanisms, these projects remain unprofitable.
