Pushover analysis reveals failure mechanisms in a two-story steel frame, confirming its utility in optimizing seismic design.
The article introduces the pushover analysis method in performance-based seismic design, which enables the simulation of nonlinear structural behavior, identification of the sequence of plastic hinge formation, failure mechanisms, and the reserve strength capacity of the structure. To illustrate, the method is applied to analyze a two-story residential steel frame, thereby clarifying the process of damage development through different working stages. The results confirm the effectiveness of pushover analysis in assessing and optimizing seismic design for steel structures.
