Historical research reveals the impact of industrial hydraulic heritage on Puebla's culture and capitalism.
The industrial hydraulic heritage, a true cultural legacy born from diverse water uses is made up of ancestral knowledge, innovation and hydraulic technological development generated during the growth of the city of Puebla, Mexico. A critical theoretical perspective was designed from cultural materialism, industrial archaeology and the concept of industrial heritage. Through historical research method, data collection and analysis techniques, observation, document analysis, content analysis and causal-relational analysis, results were presented and discussed to conclude that the industrial hydraulic heritage, as part of culture and labor, has been interpreted, subjected to, and expropriated by capitalist rationality and market logic, benefiting emerging capitalism. The research elucidates the genesis and historical consolidation of the research object within an ethnographic and historical context, making it a novel contribution for future investigations on the subject.
