This study assesses non-target effects of insecticides on whitefly and leafhopper in brinjal, indicating potential impacts on pest management.
Whitefly (Bemisia tabaci Gennadius) and leafhopper (Amrasca biguttula biguttula Ishida) were the key sucking pests reported in brinjal. This study assesses the non-target effect of insecticides used against brinjal shoot and fruit borer Leucinodes orbonalis Guenee on these sucking pests. Applications of betacyfluthrin + imidacloprid and pyriproxyfen + fenpropathrin caused maximum reduction of B. tabaci (56.38 -57.79%) and these were found on par with each other.
