This work reveals new organometallic complexes formed with benzotriazole and diphosphines, suggesting intriguing properties.
In the present work, benzotriazole (Hbta) ligand was used for the synthesis of new complexes with Phenylmercury(II)acetate. The characterization results prove that the prepared complex is an organometallic complex ([PhHg(bta)]). Treatment of [PhHg(bta)] with one mole equivalent of the diphosphines {diphos = Ph 2 P(CH 2 ) n PPh 2 ; n = 2, dppe; n = 3, dppp; n = 4, dppb} afforded mixed ligand complexes of the formula [PhHg(bta)(diphos)]; diphos = dppe ( 2 ), dppp ( 3 ) or dppb ( 4 ). The resulting complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, infrared, 1 H‐ and 31 P‐{ 1 H} NMR spectroscopy. In complexes; ( 1 – 4 ), benzotriazolate links to mercury through its deprotonated nitrogen atom in a monodentate fashion.
