The deck of the Viaduct over the Caballar Ravine is a composite truss beam 415 m long with a typical span of 65 m. During the inspections planned by the Spanish Road Administration to assess the fatigue sensitivity and condition of this type of bridge decks, some welded connections between diagonals and truss chords showed some defects and potential fatigue damage was assessed. This paper describes the subsequent repair and strengthening intervention.
