Experimental tests explore shear performance of MCL-shaped connectors in steel-concrete structures, indicating new design insights.
The Modified Clothoid (MCL)-shaped composite dowel shear connector is a type of connector with high shear load-bearing capacity, large shear stiffness, and good ductility. This paper innovatively designs the push-out test specimen for steel webs embedded in T-shaped concrete sections, a composite beam cross-section form, and conducts 6 types of ordinary concrete-MCL shaped composite dowel shear connector push-out tests. It explores the influence of steel plate thickness, the number of steel and concrete teeth, and the size of steel teeth on shear performance, analyses the failure modes and mechanical mechanisms of MCL shaped composite pin connectors, and revises existing formulas for calculating ultimate shear load-bearing capacity. This provides a solid theoretical foundation for the promotion and application of MCL shaped composite pin shear connectors in steel-concrete composite structures.
