This analysis highlights unique roof concepts in stadium design, suggesting an industrial aesthetic enhances architecture.
Much of the engineering story of the project is the conceptual structural designs of the stadium and enabling the architectural vision and creation of a unique icon for The Club. This paper presents this story and the innovative structural engineering that helped transform the initial architectural sketches to the realizable icon. The paper discusses the different roof concepts explored. The final structural roof design was chosen for its sympathy to the overall architectural strong east-west form and for its industrial aesthetic compared to a cable net design. It is a solution that creates a good composition, fit and complements the architecture and site history and is a creative unique solution.
