This conceptual design explores stability and operational feasibility of a floating vertiport anchored with mooring lines, suggesting effective configurations.
Urban Air Mobility (UAM) is increasingly recognized as a viable solution to urban congestion. The establishment of vertiports is essential to support the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) of UAM vehicles. However, the limited availability of land in urban areas presents a challenge. Floating vertiports offer a promising alternative by utilizing offshore spaces. This study presents a conceptual design of a floating vertiport secured with taut mooring lines. The design prioritizes platform stability and operational feasibility. The study examines hydrodynamic responses and evaluates mooring line configurations to prevent excessive platform motion and mooring failure. The results indicate that the floating vertiport can remain stable under significant wave heights of up to 2 meters, ensuring safe VTOL operations.
