Resumen

With a span of 700 meters, Zemplen 723 holds the record for the longest pedestrian catenary bridge in the world since its opening in June 2024. Located in an adventure park in Sátoraljaújhely, Hungary, close to the border with Slovakia, it is publicly accessible although a strict limit of 300 visitors on the bridge at the same time is implemented due to comfort considerations. The deck sits on six main cables that follow a parabolic profile and are stiffened by a wind cable system.The design and construction of this unique bridge was largely driven by calculations. This paper presents the superstructure’s static and dynamic behaviour and the most important aspects of its geometrically nonlinear numerical analysis.
