Metalworking in Arzamas and the Arzamas District in the 18th and First Half of the 19th Century

The article examines the development of the iron foundry, blacksmithing, and jewelry business in Arzamas and its district in the 18th - first half of the 19th centuries. The scientific novelty of the study is due to the introduction into scientific circulation of a large corpus of previously unpublished sources that allow us to recreate the formation of the metalworking industry in Arzamas and its district. It was established that in the 18th - the first half of the 19th centuries, crafts and industry of Arzamas county were developing rapidly, which is associated with the establishment of the city as part of the Nizhny Novgorod governorate and Nizhny Novgorod province.
