This study demonstrates that higher alkaline earth content improves thermal stability in vanadate glasses, suggesting potential for electronic applications.
Vanadate glasses exhibit promising structural and functional properties, making them attractive candidates for application in advanced optics and electronics. This study explores the thermal and crystallization behavior of vanadate glasses containing varying concentrations of alkaline earth elements. Results show that increasing alkaline earth content increases glass transition temperature and thermal stability while reducing fragility. Metavanadate compositions demonstrate the most favorable viscosity characteristics for processing, maintaining the highest stability with respect to temperature variations. Crystallization analyses reveal consistent activation energies and surface‐dominated mechanisms, supported by an Avrami exponent of approximately 1. These findings, confirmed through differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and Johnson, Mehl, Avrami, and Kolmogorov (JMAK) equation, highlight the suitability of alkaline earth vanadate glasses. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) imaging provides further evidence for the crystallization morphology and mechanism.
