This review highlights the detailed bibliography and writings of the poet Valerii Briusov, indicating scholarly insights by historian Vassili Molodiakov.
This article represents a review of a book about the Russian poet Valerii Briusov written by the historian and collector Vassili E. Molodiakov. The release of this book was timed to coincide with the 150th anniversary of the poet’s birth. The subtitle of the book corresponds to its three-part structure. The first section of the work contains publications of writings by Briusov and of texts about him based on autographs or typescripts in Molodiakov’s personal collection. The second section includes Molodiakov’s scholarly articles about Briusov, which were published over the past decade. The third part of the book presents a list of single-author publications of Briusov’s writings that appeared both during his lifetime and posthumously and of works about Briusov in Russian and other languages. Based mainly on items from his own personal library, the compiler sought to provide the most complete bibliography possible of these publications. The book also includes the first detailed comments by the compiler on the inscriptions on books from his personal collection.
